This review contains spoilers , but truth in the case of this movie, no big deal if you hear something soon. If that bothers you, stop reading NOW.
OK, the thing was this: I went to see in Toluca, Sunday 8:30 pm ... and yet the room was filled to two thirds of its capacity, which I thought was a VERY good entry for that hour and day. The movie overall I did not like much, but from what I've heard about the legend of the Nahuala (the truth, I have not seen, only a few stills and a couple of scenes, so it's talking about hearsay) and represents an improvement important for the study, Animex. Dividing by parts:
Character Design: Lousy . These designs where the head is the same size as the body clutter in many scenes where the characters can not even touch the forehead, or help others to climb ... also have no originality or charm. The eyes that draw, coming out of the head, resulting in many scenes where it seems that plans are harmful. They did so in the Nahuala and repeated here ... Why?
Writer: Regular . Full of clichés, but still, is the least bad of the film. The idea that Nikto priests deceive introducing himself as "chosen" but it appears that the deceived is it because it really is the chosen one is good, the wave of chaneques trapped in the cenote is interesting, but let them both air and become mere detail decorative untapped. The conclusion, where Nikto is sacrificed to save the people was interesting, especially how the monster turns up, but he topped a cliché so that the waste (Nikto is the daughter of the gods of the sun and moon , coming out of nowhere, give his address and go to heaven). The introduction and end of the film, anchored to the present time are not necessary at all and are tedious.
Animation: really horrible. It is difficult to read many emotions of the characters, the acting is cliche and not help build believable characters. The movements are clumsy and not very fluid. The characters, in itself a design ugly, deformed all the time. Poses not only complex, but simple movements, to the extent that it is sometimes difficult to know if the same character. The timing of actions is monotonous, and sometimes more difficult to read emotions, being so flat.
Art: Regular . It looks amateur, without refinement, but at least does not hinder the action. None of the scenarios has a look that seems unique, it seems stock design.
Action / vocals: I find it very amusing that they put the singing voice of Alex Lora, the dime is fun, but its inclusion is very forced, and not like the voice actor for the part spoken ... The other characters are just average. The character named Chin had funny moments, but still being less bad is not a great performance, is due more to the script. Nikto, voiced by Sherlin, the movie begins with an attitude rather annoying, but is low, fortunately, by the end ...
Production Level: It looks more professional than the scenes I got to see the Nahuala. The characters have a consistent color, and note that there is one other character ToonBoom built rigs (an excellent 2D animation program), but always in the background. Appear a couple of animated 3D characters ... also very poorly animated and with a rig wrong. There are areas that are badly deformed and cause no emotion, apart from not being well integrated into the 2D look of the film in general.
In summary is not unbearable, but not see her again. However, my son 8 years maintained an interest throughout the film, had fun and at various times of the tape was laughing. He was not alone, as he had several children by and heard them laugh as well. In one of these, it is commercial success ...
